To Ana,
We are having a lovely time here in the thunder and lightning! We visited a very sweet 2 week old baby belonging to the headmaster of St. Matthews primary school after our session with them on Tues, and getting in some good practice of holding babies ready for my niece or nephew!
Hope you are not too bored and fed up and lots of love to Scrappy and Tom.

wednesday and thursday

Wednesday

Today we had a relaxing day, first a guy from the Congo called Eric came to sell carved wood and paintings I bought some of it .Then we walked to the peace guest house to have lunch .After that we took the car to Tendezi to the disabled village. some of the dorms were called The old vicarage, which was my old school and kings house .The children could not speak or hear and Fidel can only walk with his hands. I felt that I really wanted to help them more. When we gave them the toys we had bought they were very happy and played with them. It was chaos but they shared them very well. Fidel really liked the lion glove puppet. Then we went home and chilled.

Thursday

Today we had our first day in our last school Remera. On the 1st and 2nd lessons I did prepositions with dad then we had break . After that we had a sing song with primary 2. It is raining right now while I am typing I can hear the thunderous noises from outside.

end of first week

Friday
today was the day of the big show. We rehearsed with the morning children , who then did not come back for the afternoon. We went to the headmasters house for a fanta and then there was a big celebration. There were some very long sĂȘeches and some dancing which my dad had to join in.

Saturday
We went to Nkombo to see the site for the new nursery. We went across in a hollowed out wooden boat and the men who rowed us sang. On the island I met a little boy who was very cute and we called him nutkin cos he was eating nuts. We walked a lot back to the boats and rowed back. On the journey back it rained a lot and the cars slid all over the road. Mum? dad and emma from westminster neville and gilly went to the farm whilst the rest of us watched movies.

Sunday
We woke up at 2 am to go to see the chimps. We drove for two hours and when we got to the base we had sandwiches and tea. We walked for a very long time and it was very hard
We went through the trees and up some very high hills and then came down again
We saw lots of noisy chimps and one peed down on us§ We had a very sleepy evening

Monday
We went to ST Matthews and I learned how to skip like a rwandan

wednesday/thursday

Wednesday
Today we went back to Cyato King’s House to teach some more lessons. We all went into different classes and showed the Rwandan teachers how to use some of the things we had brought. Me and mum made posters and taught P 1 to sing, If you’re happy and you know it . I don’t like rwandan toilets they’re hard to use.
After lessons we went to the peace guest house to have a drink and listen to the fishermen sing on Lake Kivu. I saw a owl on a tree.
Thursday
Mum, Dad, Sara, Emma, Chelle and Paul watched the Rwandan teachers and helped them in their lessons and I went to Kinyarwandan lessons and learnt how to write in Kinyarwandan. It was a bit scary as I was on my own but I wrote a bit.
Every day we eat lunch at the school. They give us rice and pasta and chips and a fish sauce. It is very strong sauce but the Rwandan teachers eat a lot. Some of them walk one hour and a half each day to school. As we left the children all ran after the car. It take 45 minutes to drive home and the roads are very bumpy.
Tomorrow is the last day at Cyato and we are having a celebration. They are going to dance and the children will sing all the songs we have taught them.

Monday

Today we went to Kings House Cyato.
The children were very excited to see me as I was the first little girl from England

I helped the teachers with their lessons and I taught the children Old Mcdonald with Emma Chelle and dad.
Sara and Paul taught the children about the weather

We ate fish stew for lunch- but Neville was the only one who liked it.

It was a great day but we are very tired and dirty cos there is no hot water.

I’m now in Rwanda and the site is stunning. The plane journey was really long and our TV’s didn’t work so I watched a movie on my mum’s laptop.
Patrick came to pick us up from Kigali and drove us around Kigali, through to the rainforest and through the tea plantations in the rainforest. We had so much luggage that we were very uncomfortable and all had to sit on our bags as well as having lots on the roof. I was expecting to see monkeys and we all woke up to count them but they’re weren’t any.
Neville was there to meet us at the house and we all unpacked .
We slept very well and it was fun to have a net around my bed.
Today we walked up to the farm to look at the project and there were piglets and chicks. How cute so me, Emma (Mrs Barnes) and Dad went into the pig hut and I stroked them. The Kings House teachers were all really impressed by how much the farm had improved since last year. Then we went home and we had lunch then went swimming.
This evening we are all working really hard preparing the lessons for tomorrow at the school. The teachers are all planning their lessons and I am helping. We have practised the songs we are going to teach.

We are all safe and well

3 days to go

3 days till we go and it is chaos, music sheets to copy and instructions to laminate.
I've been dreaming that i will have THE BEST time ever, but how would you like it if your mum was making up gross/scary stories about what could happen?
Well in a different country, you would like to learn the language so i have been learning Kinyarwandan. Did you know that "you're crazy" is "way too cheesy" in swahili?.
I'm looking forward to it.
